Members of the Department of the Geographer, immediately prior to beginning a survey of a gorge to map a pathway for the Continental Army. Captain Tony Holbrook (center) serves as lead surveyor for this crew. He is accompanied by Lieutenant Doug Noble (right) who will be the surveyor’s assistant and back chainman on this survey, and Private Steve Saines (left) who will be the front chainman.
